Presentations can be tailored to meet your needs. Listed below are popular presentation themes. Presentations are also available on online survey tools, blogs, internet security, videoconferencing and podcasting.
Social Bookmarking, 50 minutes
With millions of websites and billions of webpages available at the touch of your fingertips, finding the right page with a search engine is not always an easy task. Now imagine searching for sites with key words called tags from the recommendations of your respected colleagues. Not only can you store access to your bookmarks, but you can add tags and descriptions to keep them organized. Social bookmarking also allows you to share resources with others in your network. Since your selections are stored on a remote server, you can access your bookmarks from any computer with an Internet connection. In this presentation we will explore a primary social bookmarking website, delicious. The Powerpoint presentation provided at a local library in September 2008 is linked. Learning With WebQuests, 1-2 hours
WebQuests are perhaps the greatest use of the Internet for learning. Students access preselected websites and collaborate to answer a central, open-ended question. Many times this question is answered from a different personal point of view. We will discuss key components of WebQuests as well as differentiate task focused activities from a true WebQuest. Resources will be discussed to help you find or create your own WebQuest to enhance rich, relevant, and real learning. Please access the WebQuest Concept Map of the presentation. In addition, I would like to share my Wildland Fire WebQuest and a link to my WebQuest Powerpoint presentation.
Wikis and Social Websites
During this past year I have been impressed with the opportunities of social websites or wikis for organizations.. A wiki is a website that anyone can edit within their web browser without the need of tech savvy programming skills. This type of website is especially valuable for organizations that wish to share and collaborate. Unlike a traditional website that requires a webmaster to submit content, a social website encourages ownership of the organization by its membership. This presentation will promote Wetpaint.
Photo Sharing, 50 minutes
Are you interested in uploading your digital photos, organizing them, and sharing your photos with others? Are you interested in merging everyone’s photos from an event … for free? In this presentation we will explore Flickr and its many applications for learning including digital storytelling, geography, and cultural awareness. Information will be provided to promote the use of a Creative Commons license for your digital photography. We will also explore the concept of geotagging so you can locate your photography on a world map. Check out Ngorongoro and Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa. Click here for a Flickr Powerpoint presentation.
Collaborative Writing, 50 minutes
Do you have an interest in collaborating with other people on a document but are frustrated with the numerous emails that this requires? After one collaborator suggests and edit, you have to resend the document to other collaborators who then send their suggestions, etc. Enter Google Docs and other collaborative writing tools. You can now upload a document to this wiki, identify collaborators, and everyone can make amendments at the same time. You can even view edit history and assign parameters for collaborators.
